23andMe, the leading consumer genetics and research company, provides clinical services that deliver individualized genetics-focused care empowering people to take control of their health. Our recently acquired telemedicine platform, Lemonaid Health, includes a medical group of physicians and nurse practitioners serving patients in all 50 states. The combined services of 23andMe and Lemonaid Health provide customers with an opportunity to take the next step when it comes to using genetic information in their health and wellness efforts.  

23andMe is seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and creative individual to join our Genomic Health team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop communication strategies and educational content to help position 23andMe as a leader in genomic healthcare.

Reporting to Genomic Health leadership, the Medical Communications Associate will be a valuable contributor to the Genomic Health team. 23andMe’s Genomic Health team includes medical professionals with expertise in genetic counseling, clinical genetics, preventive medicine, nursing, primary care, and public health who are dedicated to improving patient healthcare experiences and outcomes through clinically informed approaches to alternative service delivery models such as consumer-driven genomics.

What You’ll Do

  • In collaboration with Genomic Health leadership, develop and implement a communication plan that engages and informs healthcare professionals (HCP), key opinion leaders, professional organizations and societies, patient advocacy groups, and other stakeholder groups in consumer-driven genomics and preventive healthcare.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on communication goals and strategies.
  • Lead efforts to expand 23andMe for Healthcare Professionals to ensure website alignment with 23andMe’s business goals and strategies around health, improve user engagement, and build a community of informed and engaged stakeholders.
  • Assist with the design, execution, and analysis of social media campaigns on platforms including, but not limited to, Instagram, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, Threads, and Clubhouse to increase brand awareness and engagement within the healthcare community.
  • Function as the website manager for 23andMe for Healthcare Professionals, with responsibilities including developing and updating blog content, creating strategies to improve website traffic and user experience, and managing outside contractors on website development, design, and maintenance.
  • Write original copy and edit content for a range of communications and educational materials
  • Coordinate internal company activities that increase awareness about Genomic Health team activities and related subject topics. 
  • In collaboration with GH team leadership, produce yearly Genomic Health annual report highlighting team activities and impact on company goals and accomplishments

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant medical, scientific, or technical area plus 3-4 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in website design and maintenance, including website wireframing 
  • Proficiency in search engine optimization 
  • Expertise in incorporating brand kit elements into website design, social media posts, blogs, newsletters, and email marketing deliverables 
  • Experience in media, public relations, or related field
  • Experience in writing content for lay, medical, and scientific audiences for a variety of platforms, such as blogs, social media, email, and newsletters
  • Experience in email and website copywriting
  • Experience developing and implementing communication and outreach strategies
  • Strong communication (verbal, written, listening) skills and ability to collaboratively engage with stakeholder groups and colleagues 
  • Demonstrated skill in creatively translating complex health concepts to accessible and engaging formats
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work autonomously
  • Demonstrated decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Dedication to promoting health equity, access, diversity, and inclusion

  • Ability to work from our Sunnyvale, CA headquarters 3 days per week 

Pay Transparency
23andMe takes a market-based approach to pay, and amounts will vary depending on your geographic location. The salary range reflected here is for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay Area.  The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
