As the IT Application Administrator, you will be responsible for  operation, enhancement, maintenance, and architecture of Atlassian products such as Jira, Confluence, and HipChat as well as other systems which are integrated into our workflows such as PagerDuty.

What you’ll do

  • Administer and support our Atlassian (JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, HipChat) instances
  • Gather requirements for business processes, and determine ways to optimize/improve JIRA setup and workflows, as well as identify where functionality can/cannot meet user requests
  • Create standardize "schemes" that can be easily leveraged on typical project types, and customize schemes for.complex projects which provide optimal workflows, screens, fields queries, reports and dashboards
  • Architect roles and permissions structure
  • Create custom web hooks and build integrations in other systems
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to design and implement on premise Atlassian solutions consistent with industry best practices
  • JIRA & Confluence plugin integration and configuration
  • Gather requirements for business processes, and determine ways to optimize/improve JIRA setup and workflows, as well as identify where functionality can/cannot meet user requests
  • Capture and evangelize tips / best practices for 23andMe to make the most effective use of Atlassian tools
  • Provide JIRA training to users
Duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Determine ways to optimize/improve JIRA setup and workflows
  • JIRA & Confluence plugin development
  • Create and maintain documentation for installation, maintenance, and training
  • Develop and support process for users requesting new projects, workflows, etc. within JIRA
  • Support backup and recovery strategies for Atlassian products
  • Drive projects for periodic upgrades, patching and fixes


What you’ll bring 

  • Significant programming experience in at least one of Python, Perl, Java, and/or .NET or equivalent
  • Experience managing Jira creating workflows, schemes, etc.
  • Experience with API integrations to/from Atlassian products
  • Strong troubleshooting skills on tooling and server-side issues
  • Familiarity with Windows & Unix/Linux administration
  • Administrative knowledge of Software configuration management tools (Jenkins, SVN, Git)
  • Strong written and oral communications
