Sr. Product Manager, Health AI

Sunnyvale, California, United States

At 23andMe, we're building a new kind of preventative healthcare, powered by a unique dataset that combines deep genetic information with ongoing health data from lab tests, surveys, and EMRs. We’re looking for an AI product leader to architect the intelligence that transforms this rich, multimodal data into a trusted health companion. You will define and build the next generation of AI-powered features that provide continuous, clinician-backed guidance. This is a rare opportunity to shape a product that helps people proactively manage and improve their long-term health.

Who We Are

We are a group of individuals passionate about genetic discovery. 23andMe Research Institute is a nonprofit medical research organization that enables people everywhere to access their genetic information, learn about themselves, and participate in the world's largest crowdsourced research initiative. The Institute aims to be the world's most significant contributor to scientific advancement, uniting people with the common goal of improving health and deepening our understanding of DNA — the code of life.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the Feature Roadmap: Own and execute the product roadmap for a core set of new AI-powered health features, from initial concept through launch and iteration.
  • Translate Vision into Reality: Specify detailed product requirements for new mobile-first features that use AI to deliver empathetic, trustworthy, and deeply personalized health insights.
  • Drive Engagement Loops: Partner with engineering and design to build and optimize features that encourage users to understand their health, take action, and build a lasting relationship with our products.
  • Execute with a Cross-Functional Team: Drive feature development by building powerful relationships and seamless processes with R&D, engineering, analytics, design, and marketing.
  • Define and Measure Success: Establish and own the key metrics for your features. Analyze user data and product performance to make informed, data-driven decisions for future iterations.
  • Be the Voice of the Customer: Collaborate with our consumer insights and product marketing teams to deeply understand user needs, fears, and motivations in the digital health space.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of product management experience with a proven track record of launching successful, consumer-facing web and mobile applications.
  • A BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep, hands-on understanding of the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning models, from data collection and feature engineering to model evaluation and deployment.
  • Fluency with data analysis; you are comfortable writing your own queries and building dashboards to monitor product health and model performance.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate a compelling product vision and navigate complex technical trade-offs with both engineering and executive teams.
  • Proficiency in using LLMs in your daily workflow to ideate, iterate, and deliver products more quickly.
  • Ability to work from 23andMe's office mid-Peninsula, CA a minimum of 3 days per week

Strongly Preferred

  • Direct, hands-on experience building and launching AI/ML-powered products, especially those involving LLMs, NLP, recommendation engines, or predictive modeling.
  • Experience building products that leverage large-scale, heterogeneous datasets (e.g., genomic, clinical, behavioral).
  • Familiarity with data privacy and security considerations in a regulated environment (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Eagerness to collaborate with world-class researchers to build novel products powered by cutting-edge science.
