Our Therapeutics team leverages this data to discover and develop new treatments that can offer significant benefits for patients with serious, unmet medical needs.

This dedicated research and drug development group identifies novel targets using 23andMe's genetic database and performs preclinical research to advance programs towards clinical development. We currently have programs across several therapeutic areas, including but not limited to oncology, respiratory, and cardiovascular diseases. In this highly visible role, you will help manage and drive core operational activities to ensure the smooth operation of our Therapeutics organization and help it integrate with the rest of the broader 23andMe community. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role, based in South San Francisco, and will report to the Vice President, Portfolio Strategy and Alliance Management.


What You’ll Do

  • Contribute to the thoughtful planning, tracking, and communication of non-program related goals to ensure a positive business impact
  • Partner with Finance and HR to build a robust yearly Therapeutics budget process and a quarterly tracking system
  • Liaise with other cross-functional teams (within Therapeutics, IP, Legal, IT) to leverage existing operations capabilities, tools, and resources, identify gaps, and propose new tools needed to improve processes and communication across Therapeutics
  • Develop internal communication materials supporting Therapeutics
  • Act as a project manager for short term projects to improve Therapeutics operations 
  • Provide project management support for meetings, events, and functional initiatives
  • Support the procurement and contracting processes related to in-licensed data, contract research organizations, and vendor management
  • Oversee Therapeutics capacity and site planning 
  • Help increase cross-company communication
  • Support the Therapeutics organizational goal-setting process and implementation
  • Lead the organization and planning of Therapeutics offsite meetings
  • Develop and oversee onboarding program for new Therapeutics hires, interacting with HR, IT, and Facilities for logistics support (e.g. equipment and office space)
  • Establish best practices for management, communication, and coordination with business partners 
  • Maintain the Therapeutics internal and external websites


What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in a life science discipline
  • 5+ years of related work experience in Business Operations, Project Management, or related field in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
  • Prior experience in a biotech research lab or managing research projects required
  • Strong understanding of the research and drug development processes
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills; proven track record of following projects through to completion
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Customer service-oriented, self-motivated and disciplined
  • Extreme attention to detail as well as the ability to multi-task and juggle priorities
  • Proven ability to collaborate and negotiate business solutions in a complex and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to cut to the heart of a problem, find a solution, and build consensus around that solution
  • A keen eye for process improvement and experience implementing processes and workflows to create order, structure, and efficiency
  • Experience managing change and supporting user adoption of solutions
  • Excellent analytical skills, with an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment and adapt to rapidly changing business demands
  • Proficient with Google Suite
